This website is dedicated, in part, as a tribute to the memory of Billy Marr, who lost his life on Apr 4, 2024, after dismissive healthcare, missed diagnoses, and a long battle with colorectal cancer. His frustration with inadequate cancer screening policies in this province motivated him to fight tirelessly, right up, literally, to his final days. In the words of Billy Marr, as he said to the head of Colon Cancer Screening, "It's time to get off your ass people, and do something!"
He used to say he would be happy if he could save even just one person, through early detection. If just one person could sit at home tonight and enjoy supper with their family, and not have all of the suffering that comes with a later stage diagnosis.....
I will be his voice and advocate for better screening because odds are, anyone could kick cancer's ass, but only if it's caught in time.
We got this, Billy, love you!
